About this role

Role Outline

To develop skills and experience to enhance career development and growth in leadership, commercial and strategic operations. Support the Regional Sales Directors and wider business objectives.  This roles combines planning and strategic development of accounts and team members.


There are three positions which are in the regions of South, Midlands and Scotland. 


Responsibilities

  • To lead, manage and motivate the team, helping to set sales targets, developing and mentoring on an ongoing basis.
  • To provide commercial guidance to the team and provide feedback from the team to the Sales Director – B2C.
  • Support each member of the team to execute a well-planned approach to customer relationship management, improving market penetration.
  • To monitor, assist and manage customer complaints for the team.
  • To plan and run regular team meetings to share information and provide guidance and direction as required; to refer issues or concerns raised by the team with the Sales Director – B2C.
  • Engaging as part of the wider, senior management team and with other specialist roles to ensure effective team working and collaboration across the business.
  • Execute people related matters with sufficient time and effort to ensure success including; Succession Planning, Recruitment, Training and Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations issues, Employee Engagement, Welfare, Retention and Remuneration.
  • Understand, communicate and foster the Origin values and behaviours.

Business Management:

  • To be accountable for managing the sales, margin and costs (P&L) of the team.
  • Contribute to construction of motivational, individual sales targets, that fulfil the needs of the business.
  • Develop strategies to ensure achievement of yearly growth targets.
  • Provide regular team progress reports to the Sales Director and fulfil other required administrative duties in a timely fashion.
  • To lead by example and encourage timely pricing of sales enquiries; to monitor and manage the sales pricing and margin expectations.
  • Execute yearly reviews with all team members and act on matters arising as well as establishing objectives and development pathways.
  • Manage succession planning and execute the eventual handover of accounts in a professional and effective way.
  • Ensure an integrated approach in relation each of the B2C brands, as required.
  • When required, contribute to product development and/or the marketing strategy.

 

Ensure that appropriate quality marketing materials and approaches are developed (by others) and communicated internally and externally for the OAS brand

People Management

  • Support the onboarding and development of new starters through a buddy and mentoring programme.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to team members, helping to improve confidence and performance.
  • Share ideas and best practice to promote collaboration and engagement across the team.
  • Act as a positive role model and influence decision-making through constructive feedback and recommendations.

 

Commercial Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong commercial understanding of the region, its customers and business opportunities.
  • Support Regional Sales Directors in achieving regional targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and support new business development activities.
  • Promote and encourage cross-selling opportunities across the wider business portfolio.

 

Operational Responsibilities

  • Support the team with problem-solving and the resolution of operational challenges.
  • Act as a first point of contact for team support, providing guidance and direction where required.
  • Manage and escalate customer issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution.
  • Take ownership of planning and coordinating regional events, meetings and team initiatives.

 

Skills Required 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present to customers and colleagues.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting the development of team members.
  • Ability to build relationships and represent the business at networking and industry events.
  • Highly organised, proactive and willing to travel, including occasional overnight stays where required.
  • Proven experience in a technical role within the fine turf sector.
  • Strong technical understanding of the golf market including turf products, soil health, nutrition and/or plant protection.
  • A natural relationship-builder with excellent communication skills – able to connect with customers at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and an independent thinker, with the initiative and ambition to make things happen.
  • Comfortable working as part of a collaborative team where your input is valued and encouraged.
