Job Title: Research Scientist II, Gene R&D

Supervisor: Director of US Molecular Biology Gene R&D Dept. 

Location: Piscataway, NJ (Fully Onsite)

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 dependent upon experience

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and optimize high-throughput sequencing library prep methods.
  2. Manage project timeline and leverage internal resources to push project forward.
  3. Generate, analyze, interpret and present data to a broader team.
  4. Closely communicate with other teams to ensure smooth tech transfer.

Requirements:

  1. PhD. degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related fields.
  2. > 2 years of relevant experience in developing scalable NGS workflow in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
  3. Direct experience in designing customized library preps across different high-throughput sequencing platforms. (Illumina and ONT)
  4. Broad molecular biology and microbiology knowledge with the ability to apply scientific intuition and interpretation to solve problems.
  5. Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in using and building both standard and customized bioinformatics pipeline.
  6. Proficiency in at least one of the common programming languages (Python, R, Java)
  7. Extensive experience in analyzing biological datasets and various file formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF etc.)
  8. Experience with the high-throughput NGS library prep workflow for clinical samples in a plus.
  9. Experience with cell-free protein expression is a plus.

Strong collaborative instinct with good time and resource management skills.
