Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes.Every day, you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff.To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and equipment proficiency. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Applies clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients.
  • Demonstrates effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process.
  • Guides interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting with related tasks.
  • Provides leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care.
  • Documents and communicates all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Coordinates plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduate of a two (2) year AMA accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • A minimum 1 year primary work experience as a Respiratory Therapist or have successfully completed a student rotation at NHMC
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA
  • Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days
