About this role

Position Summary

The Retirement Initiatives Specialist acts as a key resource in operations, initiatives, and projects related to retirement benefits administration according to Company guidelines, client needs, and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as subject matter expert on complex issues, processes, or regulatory requirements related to the administration of Retirement Benefits for assigned location(s).
  • Remains current on processes and objectives of all operational Retirement Benefits roles within assigned location(s). Temporarily assumes duties and responsibilities of vacant roles, as needed, to ensure business continuity and satisfaction of SLA’s.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable Plan(s) and effectively applies that knowledge in the execution of Retirement Benefits operations, initiatives, and projects.
  • Serves as key resource in projects and initiatives related to retirement benefits administration. Keeps leadership apprised of progress towards objectives, goals, and milestones; regularly provides status reports and metrics.
  • Provides training on systems, processes, Plan changes, new clients, or the operational duties of other Retirement Benefits roles, as needed.
  • Reviews calculations, data, and reports related to the administration of retirement benefits.
    • Ensures accuracy of calculations and completeness of information according to Plan guidelines and regulatory requirements.
    • Checks that data and successive reports are balanced.
    • Alerts leadership of missing or inaccurate data. Provides summary of findings.
  • Gathers information or conducts research for recurring or special projects related to retirement benefits operations. Interfaces with Client Services, Plan professionals, or Operations leadership regarding findings, as needed.
  • Communicates suggestions and perspective on opportunities for operational or procedural improvements to leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in retirement benefits operations with understanding of multiple operational roles.
  • Understanding of calculations related to retirement benefits administrations with the ability to recognize and resolve inaccuracies, omissions, or issues of noncompliance.
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks as assigned, successfully meeting objectives and deadlines consistently
  • Possessing the professional maturity, operational acumen, and personal integrity of a role model.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Highly developed commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, technical procedures, benefit plans and regulations. Β Β Β Β 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong understanding of discretion and the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Solid organization skills with an attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office tools and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a third-party administrator or Taft-Hartley environment.
  • Experience working on projects meeting deliverables and milestones.
