Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Room Revenues of the hotel, focus on financial standards, and ensuring guest satisfaction and product quality standards are met.
  • Compiles information, analyzes and monitors actual sales against projected sales.
  • Identifies the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Conducts sales strategy analysis and refines as appropriate to increase market share for all properties.
  • Maintains accurate reservation system information.
  • Analyzes period end and other available systems data to identify trends, future need periods and obstacles to achieving goals.
  • Generates updates on transient segment each period.
  • Updates market knowledge and aligns strategies and approaches accordingly.
  • Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders (owners, corporate, guests, etc.).
  • Explores opportunities that drive profit, create value for clients, and encourage innovation; challenges existing processes/systems/products to make improvements.
  • Provides revenue management functional expertise to cluster general managers, leadership teams and market sales leaders.
  • Ensures that sales strategies and rate restrictions are communicated, implemented and modified as market conditions fluctuate.
  • Manages rooms inventory to maximize cluster rooms revenue.
  • Leads efforts to coordinate strategies between group sales offices.
  • Uses reservations system and demand forecasting systems to determine, implement and control selling strategies.
  • Checks distribution channels for hotel positioning, information accuracy and competitor positioning.
  • Provides recommendations to improve effectiveness of revenue management processes.
  • Understands and communicates the value of the brand name as it relates to franchise partnerships and revenue management opportunities.
  • Informs and/or updates the executives, the peers and the subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Ensure you have a complete understanding of MARSHA and Opera.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and payroll of the department.
  • Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
  • Uses sales resources and administrative/support staff effectively.
  • Must maximize revenue and occupancy and create a positive team-oriented environment focused on guests.
  • Conduct regular operations meeting to discuss routine operational matters, departmental performance targets and guest feedback.
  • Be responsible for maximizing profit through the consistent delivery of the highest standard of service and financial controls.
  • Knowledge of the Marriott Rewards program.
  • Understand how the Group Sales department and Front Desk relate to the Reservations Department.
  • Understand how the Worldwide Reservation Centers function in relation to the hotel.
  • Have knowledge about room rates, packages, discounts, and promotions and know how to handle each.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a departmental orientation program for employees to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
  • Utilizes all available on the job training tools for employees.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

Qualifications

  • Hospitality oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Hospitality Management is a strong plus but not required.
  • Have Opera PMS and MARSHA skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong leadership skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, good customer service skills and multitasking skills.
  • Able to handle difficult situations effectively
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently, especially under pressure
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish/English).
