Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a RN at CHI LakeWood Health, you will implement the nursing process across the continuum of care by providing and coordinating patient care, education, and emotional support to patients and their family members.
Every day you will work with our patients to evaluate their needs and provide physical or psychosocial care. To be successful in this role, you must have a genuine compassion for your patients’ well-being and understand the role you play in helping our our patients feel at ease. You also have the patience to explain the process, answer questions and update documentation.
To thrive in this role you will be organized and prioritize accordingly. You will demonstrate the ability to work independently; have strong written and verbal skills with the ability to engage others. Your leadership skills will allow you to handle conflicts resulting in a positive outcome.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the daily care of the patient including assessments, treatments, medications, education and discharge planning. Develops, implements and modifies the patient care plan as indicated by patient’s conditions and responses. Uses multidisciplinary team strategies to resolve patient problems
- Administer medications using bar code scanning
- Respectful and effective communication with all patient populations, physicians, and across all areas of continuum of care
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with Safe Patient Handling techniques
- Maintains continuity among nursing teams by accurate hand off and documentation in the EMR
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing competency checklists; sequestering and completing appropriate TEAM requests for malfunctioning equipment. Evaluates new equipment, follows safety guidelines for clinical devices
Job Requirements
Required
- Registered Nurse Degree from a recognized college or university
- Registered Nurse: MN (RN:MN)
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
