Sales Representative

Job Purpose and Function

The Sales Representative is primarily responsible for processing customer purchases at the cash register and assisting customers throughout their shopping experience. This role also involves working collaboratively with sales associates to close sales, recommend additional products, and ensure excellent customer service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Greet and assist customers upon arrival.
• Operate the POS/cash register to process customer purchases.
• Handle payments by cash, check, and credit card.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the register area and general store.
• Balance and count cash drawer regularly.
• Respond to customer inquiries and seek assistance from other associates as needed.
• Answer store phones and transfer calls appropriately.
• Recommend products and promotional items.
• Ensure customers find the products they are looking for.
• Assist customers in locating items within the store.
• Contact other company locations to source out-of-stock items.
• Retrieve products from the stockroom.
• Address and resolve customer complaints, referring to management when necessary.
• Support sales associates in closing sales.
• Assist in cleaning the retail floor after closing.
• Stock and replenish merchandise on shelves.
• Assist with the maintenance of store inventory.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

• Proven experience as a Sales Representative or Cashier.
• Strong ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.
• Highly motivated and target-driven in sales.
• Excellent selling, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

• At least 2–3 years of experience as a Sales Representative.
• Strong self-motivation with the ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of inventory management.
• Experience with Counterpoint POS software is an asset.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.

Additional Requirements

• Proficiency in the English language (oral and written).
• Clean Police Record (no prior convictions or pending judgments).
• Valid Medical Record (confirming no health concerns affecting work performance or safety).
• Three suitable references, at least two from previous employers.
