Sanctions Investigations Analyst

We're looking for a Sanctions Investigations Analyst to join Payoneer's Global Sanctions and Screening team ("GSS"). In this role, you will support the review and investigation of sanctions-related alerts, escalations, and other potentially high-risk matters under the guidance of the Sanctions Compliance Investigations Lead. You will help strengthen Payoneer's global sanctions compliance framework through timely research, accurate analysis, and clear, audit-ready documentation.

GSS supports compliance with sanctions requirements administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), the European Union, and other relevant sanctions authorities globally.

This role is ideal for an analytical and detail-oriented professional seeking to develop deeper expertise in sanctions compliance and financial crime investigations. You will work within established procedures, collaborate with colleagues across Compliance, Operations, business, and technology teams, and escalate matters requiring senior review or judgment.

Responsibilities

Review and investigate sanctions alerts, escalations, and other potentially high-risk matters in accordance with established procedures and under appropriate supervision.
Conduct research on customers, counterparties, transactions, ownership structures, and related parties to identify relevant facts and potential sanctions risk indicators.
Analyze available information, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and make appropriate requests for additional information to support case resolution.
Document investigative steps, factual findings, and supporting rationale clearly, accurately, and in an audit-ready manner.
Prepare concise case summaries and proposed dispositions for review by the Sanctions Compliance Investigations Lead or other senior team members.
Promptly escalate potential sanctions concerns, complex ownership structures, ambiguous findings, and matters outside established procedures.
Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, business, and technology teams to obtain information and support timely case resolution.
Manage assigned cases and priorities while meeting applicable service-level, quality, and recordkeeping expectations.
Support reporting, trend analysis, quality assurance reviews, and process improvement initiatives, as requested.
Stay informed of relevant sanctions developments, regulatory changes, and internal policy and procedural updates.

Qualifications

1-3 years of experience in sanctions compliance, financial crime compliance, investigations, KYC, AML, risk management, or a related field.
Experience reviewing alerts, conducting research, and documenting investigative findings in a regulated environment is preferred.
Working knowledge of sanctions regulations and regimes, particularly U.S. (OFAC), EU, and UK sanctions frameworks.
Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to assess customer, transactional, ownership, and related-party information.
Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when a matter requires escalation or further guidance.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize facts and document findings accurately.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assigned priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems and investigative tools quickly.
