About this role

Overview

We're hiring Scientific Gauge Assembly & Calibration Technicians for our accredited precision measurement lab in Oak Ridge, TN.

Your primary work is hands-on instrument building: assemble calibrated leak standards and precision volume devices, measure gas flow rates, make fine internal adjustments, and certify each unit against reference standards to exact customer specifications. You'll also support vacuum gauge calibrations.

Every calibration instrument you build end up in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and HVAC equipment.

Compensation

  • $22–$24/hr
  • Annual bonuses

Hiring on 1st Shift

  • Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Leak Assembly: Build calibrated leaks and precision volumes to customer specifications.
  • Flow Testing: Measure gas flow rates and fine-tune each device to spec.
  • Gauge Calibration: Support pressure calibrations on vacuum gauges against reference standards.
  • Documentation: Record and certify calibration results clearly for every unit.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose calibration issues using math and scientific principles.
  • Stand Maintenance: Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on calibration stands.
  • Status Reporting: Update the lab manager and Orders Department on progress.
  • Quality Compliance: Follow Quality Assurance Procedures to maintain ISO17025 compliance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Comfortable applying basic math to daily tasks
  • Basic mechanical and electronic skills
  • Hands-on experience using digital multimeters
  • Able to read and follow technical procedures

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics or related field
  • 2–5 years of related technical experience
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC circuits
  • Experience scaling transducer outputs (4–20 mA, 1–5V)
  • Able to solder and build basic cables
  • Familiarity with precision measurement or calibration work
  • Experience with vacuum systems or equipment
