Role Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Android Platform Engineer (SDE 3) to own the system software of Teachmint X, our AI-powered interactive flat panel. Unlike a typical app-development role, this position operates across the full Android stack — AOSP framework, system apps, OTA infrastructure, and device software — in close collaboration with partners. You will build, customize, ship, and debug the Android platform that powers devices deployed in classrooms across the country, while also contributing to our flagship applications (whiteboard, screen share, MDM, and onboarding).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own platform-level customization of our Android-based IFPD software: system/priv-app integration, platform signing, privileged permission management, launcher and setup-wizard flows, and system UI changes — while preserving GMS/EDLA compliance.
  • Build and operate our OTA pipeline end to end: constructing, signing, and releasing A/B updates, managing signing keys, AVB/verified-boot chains, and staged rollouts.
  • Define and drive the technical interface with software teams — authoring requirement specifications, reviewing BSP deliverables (kernel sources, device trees, build manifests), and validating builds.
  • Lead system-level debugging of field issues: bugreports, tombstones, ANRs, kernel logs, SELinux denials, and performance traces (Perfetto/systrace) for fast customer issue resolution.
  • Own performance-critical paths such as our low-latency ink/writing pipeline, working at the graphics stack level (SurfaceFlinger, BufferQueue, HWC) with vendor-provided libraries.
  • Develop and maintain our Device Owner/MDM stack: provisioning flows, device policy enforcement, device identity, and anti-tamper mechanisms.
  • Contribute to our application suite (whiteboard, screen share, onboarding) where system-level expertise is needed, and mentor engineers on platform concepts.
  • Establish CI/CD, testing (CTS/GTS awareness), and release engineering practices for device software.

Key Skills:
  • 5–8 years of Android experience, with at least 2–3 years in AOSP/platform or device software (IFP, TV, set-top-box, automotive, or phone OEM/BSP background strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on experience building AOSP from source: repo/manifest workflows, Soong/Make, device and product configuration, overlays (RRO).
  • Strong understanding of the Android platform security model: platform vs. app signing, priv-app permission allowlisting, signature permissions, and SELinux policy authoring/debugging.
  • Experience with the Android update and boot chain: A/B OTA, update_engine, AVB/vbmeta, signing infrastructure, and OTA server integration.
  • Framework internals fluency: Binder/AIDL, system_server services, PackageManager/ActivityManager/WindowManager, HALs (HIDL/AIDL).
  • Solid C/C++ and native debugging skills alongside strong Kotlin/Java; comfort with NDK, gdb/lldb, and reading native crash dumps.
  • Deep system debugging skills: adb/fastboot, userdebug builds, logcat/dmesg, Perfetto, memory and performance profiling.
  • Working knowledge of Device Owner/DevicePolicyManager APIs and enterprise provisioning.
  • Strong general Android app skills — Kotlin, Jetpack, modern architectures, testing — to contribute across our application layer.
  • Ability to author precise technical specifications and work effectively with SoC vendors and
  • Ability to author precise technical specifications and work effectively with partners, including cross-timezone collaboration.
Good to Have:
  • Experience with MediaTek or Amlogic BSPs and vendor release processes.
  • Exposure to GMS certification (CTS/GTS/VTS) and EDLA requirements.
  • Kernel-level familiarity: init.rc, property system, drivers, GPL compliance workflows.
  • Graphics/display pipeline experience: low-latency touch/stylus input, display tuning,
  • HDMI/input source handling.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Firebase/Crashlytics, and analytics tooling for our app-layer work.

Why Join Us?
  • Rare opportunity to own an Android platform end to end — from AOSP to apps — on hardware deployed at scale in classrooms
  • Direct influence on the software architecture of next-generation devices
  • Collaborative, transparent, and growth-focused team environment
