Position Description Â
The Self-Perform Manager is responsible for leading and managing all self-performed construction activities on assigned projects. This role provides direct oversight of labor, materials, equipment, safety, quality, and productivity for self-perform work, ensuring execution aligns with project schedules, budgets, and contract requirements. The Self-Perform Manager partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and the Senior Field Operations Manager to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality construction outcomes.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Lead and manage self-perform construction activities from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and specificationsÂ
- Direct and coordinate self-perform labor, materials, and field activities to maximize productivity, efficiency, and cost controlÂ
- Champion jobsite safety by enforcing safety programs, conducting field observations, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standardsÂ
- Monitor labor production, costs, and schedules for self-performed work, proactively identifying issues and implementing corrective actionsÂ
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and other stakeholders to support overall project objectives and sequencingÂ
- Implement and enforce quality control standards for self-perform work, including inspections and resolution of deficienciesÂ
- Mentor, supervise, and develop self-perform field staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and safety-focused cultureÂ
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices to enhance self-perform operationsÂ
- Support project closeout activities related to self-perform work, including documentation and punch list completionÂ

Required QualificationsÂ
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred, or equivalent experienceÂ
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction in a self-perform leadership role (e.g., Self-Perform Manager, Superintendent, or Construction Supervisor)Â
- Hands-on experience with self-perform construction tradesÂ
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specificationsÂ
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling, labor production tracking, and cost reportingÂ
- OSHA 10

Preferred Experience (includes, but is not limited to):Â
- OSHA 30 certificationÂ
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore and HH2Â
- Experience supporting large or complex commercial construction projectsÂ
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing field leadership staffÂ
- Spanish language proficiencyÂ

- Ability to work outdoors in varying Caribbean weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and sun exposureÂ

- Ability to navigate active construction sites with changing ground conditions and elevationsÂ
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 poundsÂ
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment as requiredÂ
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Â

Compensation & Benefits Â
The base salary for this position is one component of J. Benton Construction’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s skills, experience, education, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.Â
