Make an Impact in a High-Visibility Finance Role!

 

We're seeking a detail-oriented and analytical accounting professional to join our finance team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in the company's financial reporting process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results while supporting key business decisions.

Working closely with the Controller, Director of Finance, and CFO, you will contribute to monthly and quarterly financial reporting, insurance and reinsurance accounting, regulatory reporting, cash management, and process improvement initiatives. What You'll Do:

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all close activities in accordance with established reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare month-end data balancing, reviews, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of GAAP and statutory financial reporting.

Insurance & Reinsurance Accounting

  • Process, analyze, and report Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves.
  • Analyze Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC) and Earned Premium balances.
  • Perform assumed reinsurance contract analysis, including premium and loss processing.
  • Collaborate with affiliate companies to record, balance, and reconcile assumed business activity.
  • Monitor reinsurance contracts and calculate profit commission arrangements as applicable.
  • Calculate and analyze premium estimates and related financial impacts.

Reconciliations & Cash Management

  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger balances, investigating and resolving reconciling items.
  • Monitor cash activity and support cash flow reporting.
  • Manage account current reporting and ensure timely settlement of open balances.
  • Research and resolve outstanding receivables, unapplied cash items, and settlement discrepancies.

Analysis & Regulatory Reporting

  • Prepare monthly Market Condition Reports and Corporate Dashboard reporting.
  • Utilize financial reporting tools and data warehouses to perform reconciliations, analyses, and trend reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of Quarterly Schedule P and Schedule F filings.
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Assist with internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and SOX compliance activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results for assigned programs and contracts.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and enhance reporting efficiencies.
  • Support the development and tracking of key performance metrics.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • CPA a plus
  • Insurance Accounting experience required
  • Reinsurance accounting experience a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills (including LookUps, Pivot Tables, index matching)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting control principles
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail and analytical
  • Strong problem solving Initiative and self-motivated
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Additional Company Details

This role is based in Naperville, IL in-office four days per week. We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms. The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role includes: Base Salary Range: $90,000 - 110,000. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program. Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.
