Senior Actuarial Director, Head of IFRS Reporting

The Hong Kong Corporate Actuarial acts as financial management hub, providing professional advices and services to senior management in the state-of-the-art actuarial areas across IFRS17 valuation reporting and analysis, Hong Kong RBC capital valuation and management, business planning and forecasting, participating business and reinsurance management, as well as statutory financial reporting duties to the regulators.    

Reporting to the Hong Kong Chief Actuary, this role is heading the IFRS reporting team leading a group of around 15 junior to middle-level actuaries, in delivering the best-in-class quality of financial reporting by managing insurance liabilities of approx. US$50 billion. He or she will also be a member of the senior actuaries leadership team.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead IFRS 17 quarterly financial reporting in compliance with relevant internal and accounting standards. This also covered related management reporting including Drivers Of Earnings (DOE), expense gap analysis, basis changes management and other valuation controls and audit.
• Lead HK FRS and Macau FRS reporting and actuarial related development and auditor interactions.
• Support monthly financial forecasting and planning processes on earnings related metrics.
• Lead earnings assessment in supporting business initiatives and optimization, for instance ALM initiatives and projects, and provides advices to management.
• Provide leadership and coaching to junior actuaries in the team.
• Champion valuation and reporting processes improvement and efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

• University Degree holder
• Professional actuarial qualifications.
• At minimum 12 years’ experience in insurance relevant industry.
• Solid actuarial knowledge and experience in valuation and financial reporting.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong project management skills, being able to drive things forward
• Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
• Team leader who good at coaching and inspiring people
• Able to manage to work flexibly under dynamic business environment
• Effective command of English, both spoken and written
• Experience in Hong Kong statutory reporting an asset, yet not a must
• Experience in AXIS actuarial modeling an asset, yet not a must
