Senior Bridge Engineer

Context

This role contributes across design development and documentation phases, including preparation of general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, and BIM coordination for bridge projects. Responsibilities include translating engineering concepts into accurate technical drawings while maintaining compliance with drafting standards, quality control procedures, and client specifications within Ontario’s transportation infrastructure environment.

Missions/Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed structural design and analysis calculations for complex bridge structures in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

• Perform and review bridge design and analytical modelling using relevant structural analysis and design software, including Midas Civil.

• Check and verify calculations, models, and design outputs prepared by other Engineers and Engineers-in-Training (EITs) to ensure technical accuracy and quality.

• Provide technical input and engineering judgement on complex bridge design issues, supporting the development of safe, efficient, and practical solutions.

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure bridge designs are integrated with broader project requirements and interfaces.

• Support delivery of bridge projects through all relevant design stages, maintaining compliance with client, regulatory, and project-specific standards.

• Contribute to technical reviews, design assurance, and quality management processes across bridge engineering activities.

• Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs through calculation checking, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Profile/Skills

Required Qualifications

• Senior Bridge Engineer with minimum 10+ years-experience
• PEng in Ontario
• Highly experienced with undertaking bridge design and analysis calculations including experience of bridge structural analytical and design software such as Midas Civil
• Preference for Alliance experience
• Preference for local experience with Ontario infrastructure bridge projects
• Preference for past experience of projects with BIM delivery
• Preference of experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as large complex projects

• Strong Revit modelling capability
• Structural detailing awareness
• Multidisciplinary coordination
• Problem-solving

The reference salary range for this role would be $65,000 - $85,000 CAD / Annually
