Team Overview:

The CAD Silicon Support Engineering team is the backbone of our silicon development engine. We are a high-impact, multi-disciplinary group of engineers dedicated to building, maintaining, and optimizing the critical Electronic Design Automation (EDA) environments, tool chains, and methodologies that enable our design teams to tape out world-class silicon. Our mission, to accelerate time-to-market and maximize engineering productivity by delivering robust, highly automated, and deterministic CAD workflows. We bridge the gap between EDA vendor tools and the unique, complex demands of our custom silicon architectures, ensuring maximum tool uptime, optimal license utilization, and flawless data management.

What you will do:

  • Support team members with virtual desktop environment setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain and support the load-sharing server farm and job submission environment to ensure reliable engineering operations
  • Set up, configure, and maintain EDA tools and license management to support design teams
  • Support circuit and layout designers by troubleshooting issues related to DRC, LVS, and extraction tools
  • Support analog design flows and CAD tools from project setup through tape-out, ensuring efficient execution of design activities
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation to improve engineering workflows and assist in resolving design environment issues
  • Work closely with designers and collaborate with EDA tool vendors to troubleshoot technical issues and implement tool updates and enhancements.
  • Provide support team members on the Linux Operating System and IT networking issues
  • Document CAD processes, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides and contribute to continuous improvements in engineering workflows and support practices

What you will bring:

  • BSEE with 5 years of experience or MSEE with at least 3 years of experience
  • Working experience as a CAD support or EDA developer role
  • Experience with EDA IC Design Tools (Schematic Capture, Layout Editing, and Simulation)
  • Experience with Physical Verification Tools (DRC/LVS/Extraction tools)
  • Knowledge of process development kit elements (PDK), including DRC, LVS and Extraction rule decks, model files, and custom parameterized cells development
  • Proficiency in one or more programming and Scripting Languages (Cadence Skill, Perl, Python, Unix shell, C, C++, Web development)
  • Experience using Linux operating systems and working with CMOS silicon processes
  • Knowledge of using and supporting one or more of the following design tools and methodologies:
  • Cadence Analog tools (Virtuoso, Spectre, ADE)
  • Cadence PCell development
  • Synopsys Digital tools (Fusion Compiler, PrimeLib)
  • Synopsys library characterization tools
  • Experience with Cadence Assura, PVS, Quantus, or Pegasus
  • Experience with Siemens Calibre tools
  • Administering FlexLM licenses
  • Design Management Systems (Subversion, Git, or other version control systems)
  • VPN, VNC and Exceed TurboX administration experience
  • Experience documenting technical processes clearly and communicate findings across engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
