We are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Designer for Large Scale Mixed Use (commercial/residential led developments with retail/hospitality).Â
As a Gensler Senior Designer, you will collaborate with our design team to develop innovative design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You demonstrate innovative thinking, and are a recognized contributor to high-profile, design driven projects. What You Will DoÂ
- Ideate in collaboration with the Design Director and the whole team to create innovative designs in response to complex challengesÂ
- Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and productionÂ
- Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectivesÂ
- Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawingsÂ
- Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design conceptsÂ
- Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of developmentÂ
- A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentÂ
- Effective communicator, collaborative and team-conscious.Â
- Provide Mentorship and coaching to grow junior staff membersÂ
- Participate in office culture and initiativesÂ
Your QualificationsÂ
RequiredÂ
Bachelor’s degree Architecture, or foreign equivalentÂ
10+ years of related project experience, preferably in commercial-led and residential-led mixed use, but also across various practice areas. Â
Registered Architect. Â
Knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codesÂ
LEED accreditation a plusÂ
Your Design Technology QualificationsÂ
Essential:Â
Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery. Â
Deep understanding and expertise in Rhinoceros for design authoring. Â
Good knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a project. Â
Basic understanding and familiarity with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows. Â
Basic understanding and familiarity with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo. Â
Basic understanding and familiarity with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results. Â
Desirable: Â
Good knowledge and experience with the strategic planning, and setup of BIM projects. Â
Good knowledge and experience with collaboration within the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection. Â
Good knowledge and experience with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo. Â
Good knowledge and experience with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results. Familiarity with Performance Design applications such as Autodesk Insight, Sefaira, and Ladybug tools. Â
Good knowledge and experience in the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviews. Â
