The Network Engineering function is responsible for the design, reliability, and optimisation of QRT’s wide-area network. The team supports large-scale routing infrastructure and collaborates closely with stakeholders across operations, systems engineering, and automation to ensure robust connectivity for global research and trading activities. Â
Your Future Role within QRTÂ
You will:Â
- Design, build, and operate scalable, resilient infrastructure configuration and platform servicesÂ
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software deliveryÂ
- Implement and evolve observability systems using OpenTelemetry (OTel), including distributed tracing, metrics, and loggingÂ
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixesÂ
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using scripting and infrastructure-as-code approachesÂ
- Work closely with engineers to improve system design, deployment processes, and runtime performanceÂ
- Operate and optimise containerised environments and orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes)Â
- Take ownership of services and features from implementation through production support and continuous improvementÂ
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutionsÂ
Your Present SkillsetÂ
- Strong Linux systems expertise, including debugging and performance tuningÂ
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VRFs, VLANs, BGP)Â
- Proficiency in Bash and Python for automation and toolingÂ
- Experience with Python web frameworks (e.g. Flask, Django REST Framework)Â
- Experience building RESTful APIsÂ
- Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)Â
- Experience with monitoring and logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)Â
- Understanding of asynchronous and multi-threaded systemsÂ
- Experience working with CI/CD systems in production environmentsÂ
- Familiarity with distributed systems and common reliability patternsÂ
- Ability to define and measure KPIs, SLAs, and SLOsÂ
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersÂ
- Desirable:Â
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (i.e. Terraform)Â Â
- Experience with cloud platforms (i.e. AWS)Â Â
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry (OTel), including instrumentation, tracing, metrics, and observability pipelines Â
