Senior Engineer I - Water Resources

Responsibilities

• Working with a group of engineers in the pursuit of water resources, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics design related projects and the related clients;
• Proficient understanding and knowledge of frequently used software such as HEC programs, XP-SWMM, MOUSE, etc. and how the use of each addresses water resources issues.
• Sound technical knowledge, especially in the area of water resources engineering.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Work with the WRE team to identify and pursue water resources opportunities in which Walter P Moore can excel.
• Develop a national network of clients and consultant alliances to position the WRE group.
• Opportunity to experience GIS-based tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine for watershed modeling and floodplain mapping.
• Get exposure to sustainable urban drainage systems, green infrastructure, and climate adaptation strategies for flood control.
• Opportunity to experience mentoring junior engineers and conducting knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Handling large datasets, real-time monitoring systems and automation systems.
• Get exposure to machine learning applications in hydrology and predictive analytics for flood forecasting.
• Existing Client network a plus.

Qualifications

• Masters in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in hydrology/hydraulics, water resources or related field); Ph.D. degree is a plus
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in drainage design;
• Proficient in related softare/modeling programs including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICM, XP-SWMM, 2D modling, etc.; and
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
