LUMICKS is a next-generation life science tools company developing technologies that give researchers real-time insight into biological interactions at the molecular and cellular level. By helping academic and pharmaceutical communities better understand the mechanisms of life and disease, LUMICKS aims to accelerate scientific discovery and the development of new therapies.
What you will own
- End user support that gets better over time. You will resolve incidents and requests across devices, SaaS applications, meeting rooms and the office network, for colleagues on-site and remote. The expectation is not just to close the ticket. It is to remove the reason it was raised and write the article so nobody has to solve it twice.
- Microsoft Azure, 365 and identity. Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and Defender. Conditional access, multi-factor authentication and compliance policies. Drive toward genuine automation rather than a documented checklists.
- Automation and self-service. This is the part of the role that adds the most value. Workflows, automations, request catalogues, approvals and integrations, built with ManageEngine, PowerShell, Power Automate and the Graph API. Every recurring manual task is a candidate. You will be measured on what you removed and on the health of the environment, not on how many tickets you touched.
- Network and workplace infrastructure. The office network, firewalls, switches, wireless and UPS, plus meeting rooms and printing. Monitoring, alerting, firmware, configuration and documentation, run so that replacements are routine and not emergencies.
- Records that can be trusted. Assets, configurations, software licenses and contracts, maintained in the service management platform as a single source of truth, fed by discovery and integration rather than by hand.
- Projects and collaboration. Deliver IT improvements and projects from planning through implementation. Coordinate with vendors and security specialists, and work closely with IT leadership on operational priorities.
What you bring
- Substantial hands-on experience in IT engineering or system administration, typically five or more years. We value demonstrated capability over a particular career path.
- Strong practical experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and endpoint management across Windows and macOS.
- Demonstrated automation experience using PowerShell or comparable scripting, workflow tooling and API-based integrations. We will be interested in examples of what you have built.
- Solid networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, firewalls, wireless. You can run an office network on your own.
- Experience with an IT service management platform and structured practices such as incident, request and change management, ticket quality and documentation.
- A practical approach to security, including least privilege, zero trust, conditional access and endpoint compliance.
- Able to explain technical matters to colleagues who are expert in something else entirely.
- Fluent written and spoken English. Dutch is useful, not required.
What we offer
- The opportunity to shape and continuously improve a modern workplace IT environment.
- A high-autonomy role with direct access to IT leadership and the opportunity to deliver improvements from idea to implementation.
- The chance to design and help built an IT estate rather than maintain legacy systems.
- Hybrid working: three days per week at our Amsterdam office, the rest remote. Occasional additional on-site presence for planned changes or project work.
- Competitive salary.
- Pension, 8% holiday allowance, 13th month salary, travel allowance of up to €400 per month, and a €1,000 annual training budget.
- Flexible paid time off. Employees based in the Netherlands typically take between 25 and 35 paid days off per year, arranged in consultation with their manager.
