The Role

  • Manage and review US personal tax engagements independently and effectively (including Form 8621, Form 3520, Form 8833, Form 2555, and additional US Tax Return forms as appliable)
  • Deliver complete product to the Senior Manager or Partner on a timely basis.
  • Respond to client questions and queries.
  • Delegate tasks to all levels of staff.
  • Providing guidance and training for staff members to enhance their career development within the firm.
  • Responsible for managing client relationships, winning new work and managing quality of work completed.
  • Responsible for managing client portfolios. 
  • Mentor and coach senior and staff accountants.
  • Undertaking tax research with guidance from senior specialists.
  • Identify and document tax filing positions, including risk analysis.
  • Prepare internal and external client correspondence.

 

What You Will Bring

  • CPA designation – Canada or US – with 5+ years of relevant experience post designation
  • Experience with Canadian personal tax returns and additional Forms such as T2062, NR4, section 216 returns an asset
  • Excellent project management, time management, and leadership skills
  • An innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, technical, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Problem solver with solid analytical skills
  • Experience in CaseWare/Caseview, TaxPrep, and CCH Axcess is an asset
  • Experience in a paperless environment is considered an asset
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines
