Job Description
The Senior Program Manager (PM), with minimal supervision, applies project management expertise to lead complex programs to ensure delivery of safe and effective combination products and medical devices, on time and within budget. The Sr. PM partners with globally located, cross-functional teams, including external vendors, to drive results. The Sr. PM has ultimate responsibility over program delivery and manages vendor and business partner interfaces to ensure the business partners achieve efficient and effective deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Delivery of complex programs across the Device & Combination Product R&D organization
- Leadership of large, globally located cross functional program teams.
- Compliance with applicable AbbVie policies, procedures, and processes. Ensures quality and effectiveness of key results of major programs through sound design, risk assessment, and implementation of contingency planning.
- Development and maintenance of project schedules and budgets.
- Supports development of project strategy to align and achieve key customer business objectives.
- Contributes to the development of long-term business and organizational strategies.
- Drives risk-based decision making even without complete information.
- Collaborates and maintains relationships with external development partners.
- Subject Matter Expert in Project Management – utilizes appropriate tools (Microsoft Project) for project planning, monitoring and reporting to maintain timelines and budgets.
- Participates in internal, cross-divisional initiatives to develop and align procedures and standards.
- Provides mentorship and guidance on Project Management best practices to junior personnel.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering or scientific field
- Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree with 8+ years of experience OR PhD with 0-3 years of experience is required.
- Experience in stage-gate product development for medical devices and/or combination products strongly preferred.
- Must have demonstrated expertise in project management, effective communication and external relationship management.
- Candidates should have demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills in a team environment, excellent negotiation or influencing skills and an ability to establish and influence team timelines and expectations.
- Ability to manage internal and external relationships effectively.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, heavily regulated environment.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.
