A Day in The Life Of:

As a Senior Software Engineer (Mobile Applications), you will provide technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of native iOS and Android applications that support connected healthcare solutions. You will work across mobile platforms, device communications, security, analytics, and user experience while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that supports patient-focused outcomes.

This role is part of a mobile software engineering team focused on building secure, native mobile applications that connect directly with medical technology and transform complex physiological data into meaningful insights for patients and clinicians. The team develops iOS and Android applications that integrate with connected medical devices, support on-device analytics, and deliver reliable experiences in environments where connectivity, security, and data integrity are critical.

What makes this role so interesting:

The device you are talking to is inside a person. That constraint makes every engineering decision - from reconnection backoff logic to storage encryption strategy - carry a weight that you don't find on most teams. You will ship code that matters to real people, and you will do it while working across two mature native platforms with a shared purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of native mobile application features for iOS and Android.

  • Define and influence mobile architecture, technical standards, scalability strategies, and performance optimisation initiatives.

  • Design and implement Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication workflows, including device discovery, pairing, session management, and data synchronisation.

  • Develop secure mobile capabilities, including encrypted local data storage, authentication flows, and platform-specific security controls.

  • Collaborate with firmware, backend, verification, product, design, and data science teams to deliver integrated solutions across the product ecosystem.

  • Drive code quality through technical reviews, mentoring, testing strategies, and engineering best practices.

  • Investigate complex technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions that improve product reliability and user experience.

  • Own mobile release activities, including build configuration, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), quality validation, and application store submissions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 4+ years of software engineering experience developing production mobile applications.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering native iOS and/or Android applications, including application architecture and design.

  • Experience implementing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) functionality within mobile applications.

  • Proficiency with modern mobile development technologies such as Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Java, C#, .NET, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, or Xcode.

  • Experience leading technical discussions, conducting code reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building secure mobile applications with encrypted local storage, authentication frameworks, and mobile security controls.

  • Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, observability tools, crash analytics, or application performance monitoring solutions.

  • Experience integrating machine learning or artificial intelligence models into mobile applications using technologies such as Core ML or TensorFlow Lite.

  • Experience within regulated industries, including healthcare, medical device, life sciences, or other quality-focused environments.

  • Experience with SQL databases, cloud-connected applications, Flutter, React Native, Objective-C, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, SonarQube, JFrog, Figma, Pendo, or Dynatrace.
