We're looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to help build and operate the web security capabilities at the heart of our global platform. Your Mission

As a Senior Software Systems Engineer specializing in Web Security, you'll help design, develop, and operate globally deployed web security services protecting organizations in more than 180 countries.

You'll work at the intersection of software engineering, systems engineering, networking, and cybersecurity, contributing across the entire product lifecycle, from architecture and design through development, deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and operate highly scalable web security services.
• Drive observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational excellence across web security services.
• Take end-to-end ownership of solutions, from technical concept and implementation to production and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineers across networking, security, cloud, and platform teams.
• Help shape the future of web security and cloud-delivered security services.

As part of your engineering journey, you'll become certified as a Mission Control Engineer, gaining hands-on experience operating a broad range of network and security technologies.

This also includes the opportunity to join our Network Operations Center in Honolulu, Hawaii for three-month assignments, working alongside engineers who operate our global security infrastructure.

What you bring

Required

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP, and HTTPS.
• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
• Experience working with Linux/UNIX-based systems.
• Experience working with cloud-native and containerized environments.
• Coding experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash) and compiled languages (e.g. Go, C++, Rust).
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with web security technologies, proxies, or Secure Web Gateway (SWG) solutions.
• Knowledge of modern security architectures, Zero Trust, or SASE.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience operating globally deployed services in production.
