Job Description
About the role:
- You will be the restaurant’s expert on wine while ensuring five-star service to our patrons.
- We are seeking a thorough professional who is adept at new wine trends and makes recommendations with confidence and passion.
- As a Senior Sommelier, you will delight our guests by helping them choose the best wine to complete meal experiences.
- Develop and mentor Sommeliers and front-of-house colleagues.
- Drive beverage revenue through strategic recommendations and upselling.
- You will be responsible for creating and updating the wine list in coordination with the F&B Manager, as well as ensuring all beverages are stored securely.
- You will share your knowledge through informative training of the outlet team members and management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- You are passionate about wine and have relevant experience in a similar property
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Sommelier within a Michelin-starred or luxury fine dinning environment.
- Formal wine certification (e.g., WSET Level 3+, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring Sommeliers or front-of-house teams.
- Valid Food Handler Licence in accordance with Maltese regulations (maintained at all times).
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to maximise beverage revenue.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are considered an asset.
- You have a natural flair for service and delivering a strong service culture, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
