About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to support advanced Research and Development lab environments focused on server infrastructure, hardware operations, test automation support, and enterprise systems administration.

This is a highly hands-on role that combines traditional systems administration with hardware deployment, infrastructure troubleshooting, lab operations, and environment management. You’ll support physical hardware, virtualized systems, operating systems, automation environments, and internal lab operations within fast-paced engineering and development ecosystems.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, development, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain reliable hardware, networking, virtualization, and operating systems across test and development environments. You’ll also contribute to lab expansion, hardware lifecycle management, automation support, infrastructure planning, and operational improvements.

What You'll Do

  • Administer and support Windows Server and Linux-based lab environments.
  • Deploy, configure, image, and maintain servers, desktops, laptops, and specialized test hardware.
  • Build and support virtualized environments using Hyper-V and related technologies.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, networking, and remote-access systems.
  • Support hardware deployment activities, including rack-and-stack work, cabling, KVM configuration, and device onboarding.
  • Perform break/fix troubleshooting across server, network, firmware, operating system, and infrastructure components.
  • Conduct firmware updates, hardware diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor and maintain lab infrastructure health, capacity, and operational readiness.
  • Support test automation and engineering teams with infrastructure setup and ongoing maintenance.
  • Configure and support remote-management tools such as iLO, iDRAC, KVM over IP, and console-access systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, asset-tracking records, technical procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment moves, deployments, refreshes, and decommissioning activities.
  • Use ServiceNow or an equivalent ticketing and operational-management platform to document and manage work.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, environment optimization, and operational-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure work complies with operational, safety, security, and client standards.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • 60% systems administration and infrastructure support.
  • 25% hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and lab operations.
  • 10% documentation, ticketing, and operational coordination.
  • 5% meetings and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Bring

  • Five or more years of systems administration experience within enterprise, lab, or infrastructure-intensive environments.
  • Strong experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting server hardware.
  • Experience supporting networking infrastructure and cabling within lab or data center environments.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, imaging, patching, and endpoint-management tools.
  • Experience with remote-management platforms such as iLO, iDRAC, KVM systems, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and install equipment within lab environments.
  • Ability to work entirely onsite in Redmond, Washington.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting fast-paced engineering, Research and Development, or test-lab environments.
  • Experience supporting pre-production or engineering lab environments.
  • Experience with SCCM, Azure, or enterprise endpoint-management tools.
  • Experience supporting firmware validation or hardware-testing environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration and scripting.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or a similar infrastructure certification.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale deployment and automation environments.
