Essential Job Summary:

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical applications and workflow solutions that support Interstate Waste Services’ enterprise operations. This role partners closely with business stakeholders and internal IT teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, while contributing to architecture, development standards, system integrations, and application enhancements. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Microsoft .NET development and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach to enterprise software delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications and workflow solutions using Microsoft .NET technologies.
  • Translate business requirements into intuitive workflow and application designs.
  • Analyze user requirements and develop technical solutions to support operational business needs.
  • Review team members’ code, architecture, and technical documentation to provide feedback and maintain development quality standards.
  • Create and maintain system design documents, technical architecture diagrams, and release notes.
  • Develop understanding of the current application portfolio and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
  • Contribute to development standards and procedures related to source management, deployment management, and environment management.
  • Support critical application decisions involving system integrations, software selection, and enterprise architecture.
  • Continually enhance the usability, performance, and scalability of business applications and automation solutions.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend improvements to development practices and system architecture.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, document technical specifications, and support solution design efforts.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a developer role within a full stack development environment required.
  • Strong experience with C# programming and .NET 8+ required.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server, and relational database technologies required.
  • Experience with REST API development, systems integration, and middleware integration expertise required.
  • Experience in the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise-scale applications required.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and creating technical documentation required.
  • Ability to work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing or maintaining customer-facing hybrid web applications preferred.
  • Experience with Blazor preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps preferred.
  • Experience with finance and payment solutions preferred.
  • Experience with mobile application development preferred.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services preferred.
