SentinelOne is looking for a brilliant, data-minded Backend Engineering Intern to join our R&D center in Tel Aviv. In this role, you will be working on the heavy-duty backend infrastructure, distributed systems, and stream-processing engines that ingest, normalize, and secure petabytes of global endpoint telemetry at machine speed.

This internship is designed for students who thrive on pure software engineering execution without the administrative bloat. We give our interns true ownership over long-term, high-impact architecture, expecting deep focus, strong personal accountability, and raw technical execution.

What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include: 

• Write Production Backend Code: Design, develop, and maintain backend cloud infrastructure using Python or Java.
• Build for Scale: Work on large-scale distributed systems, multi-threaded applications, and high-throughput data processing layers.
• Feature Ownership: Take end-to-end technical responsibility for a standalone component or optimization project from design to deployment.
• Deep Architectural Execution: Collaborate directly with senior engineers and architects on complex performance bottlenecks and systems integration.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have: 

• Education: Currently pursuing a BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field from a leading Israeli university.
• Strong OOP and Systems Fundamentals: Proficient in either Python or Java. Deep understanding of multi-threading, asynchronous programming, data structures, and algorithms.
• Autonomous Execution: The ability to take a complex technical requirement, deep-dive into the codebase independently, and deliver a clean solution without micromanagement.
• Fluency in English: Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and global collaboration.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Skills)

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with distributed tracking, big data frameworks (Kafka, Spark, Flink), or database optimization (SQL/NoSQL).
• Open-source contributions or low-level network/systems automation personal projects.
