The Senior Software Engineer will drive efforts and contribute to building high quality, scalable computer software systems, participating in the design process from beginning to end. Leans into and contributes to technical decisions to support our strategic product goals. Demonstrates deep technical domain knowledge with growing ownership of product features end-to-end, spanning both backend and frontend development (approximately 60% backend / 40% frontend). A key collaborative player involved in maintenance of product features, including on-call escalations, triaging and resolution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

● Participate in and contribute to code/design reviews to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate planning
● Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
● Write clean code to develop functional web applications
● Build and maintain data pipelines that transform incoming data into Kafka streams and "KeyLife Indicators" (KLIs)
● Advanced troubleshooting and debugging
● Perform UI tests to optimize performance
● Liaise with developers, designers and system administrators to identify new features
● Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
● Gather and address technical and design requirements
● Set up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system health
● Build reusable code and libraries for future use
● Provide training and support to internal teams
● Enhance development tools, test coverage, and/or code structure
● Provide mentoring and technical support to junior engineers
● Actively contribute to architectural discussions across the team
● Respond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving critical disruptions to ensure minimal downtime
● Maintain clear and proactive communication with customers and vendors to ensure a positive, collaborative relationship
● Demonstrate self-sufficiency by independently managing tasks, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines, while adapting to new challenges without supervision
● Maintain development standards within the team
● Champion an API-first approach to software projects, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and extensibility  

Recommended Experience & Education 

Minimum Years of Experience 

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience in software development, or a related field; or 6 years and an advanced degree

Education Level

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or another related field or equivalent work experience 

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications 

Required 

● Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience in software development, or a related field
● Strong programming skills in an object-oriented language such as Kotlin or Java, with proven work experience as a full stack developer
● Strong experience working with modern Javascript frameworks, with Vue.js as a preferred requirement, alongside React, Angular, and Tailwind CSS
● Experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs
● In-depth understanding of the entire software development process (design, development and deployment)
● Experience developing and deploying applications for Cloud Native Infrastructure, including AWS and Kubernetes
● Solid proficiency in Kafka fundamentals and event-driven architecture
● Collaborates effectively within the agile framework with a problem-solving attitude and willing to take a variety of approaches
● Excellent analytical and time management skills, with a proven ability to deliver value independently
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience providing technical input
● Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams
● Experience in monitoring and supporting production systems, with proficiency in identifying and resolving issues, implementing proactive measures, and measurement tracking
● Experience optimizing system performance, including the ability to troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement performance improvements
● Strong experience in SQL and NoSQL databases, coupled with caching mechanisms. Includes designing data structures, optimizing, and maintaining systems, as well as effective caching strategies to enhance performance and responsiveness
● Understanding and practical application of REST API best practices. Proficiency in adhering to standards, ensuring security, scalability, and optimal performance
● Experience developing tests including unit tests, UI automation tests, integration tests
● Applies AI-driven engineering practices to enhance productivity in code generation, testing, and refactoring, contributing to modernization efforts across the team
● Ability to participate in on-call rotation

Preferred 

● Master's degree in engineering, technology or related field
● Experience working with SaaS offerings in the technology and financial industries
● Experience with Maven
● Experience with Kotlin and/or Vue.js
● Experience with OpenTelemetry
● Experience building and deploying applications on Amazon Web Services using Kubernetes

The salary range for this position is: $120,000 - $140,000
