Our engineers build the services, APIs, event-driven systems, and user experiences that transform complex healthcare data into fast, reliable, and intuitive products used by life sciences organizations around the world. Working across modern cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and AI-enabled technologies, this team solves challenging technical problems at scale while partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data Engineering to continually improve the performance, reliability, and capabilities of our platform.   WHAT YOU'LL DO AT H1 As a Senior Software Engineer on our MCU team, you will own the delivery of complex product capabilities from technical design through production deployment with minimal guidance. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and fellow Engineers to build scalable, high-performing applications that power H1's platform while helping shape technical direction across the team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across the full stack, making architectural decisions, solving distributed systems challenges, and taking ownership of the quality and reliability of the software they build. You will: - Own features end-to-end from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support - Develop and optimize APIs, backend services, and distributed microservice architectures. - Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and database performance for large-scale applications. - Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Kafka-based event-driven systems, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, replay strategies, and failure recovery. - Develop and optimize Elasticsearch indexes, mappings, search queries, and performance for high-volume search workloads. - Deploy, monitor, and support applications running in Kubernetes, including Helm charts, CronJobs, autoscaling, and production troubleshooting. - Contribute to AWS-based cloud infrastructure and collaborate on Spark and EMR data workflows supporting the platform. - Contribute to building and maintaining scalable full-stack applications across React frontends and NestJS backend services. - Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews while helping establish engineering best practices. - Partner cross-functionally with Product and Design to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. - Continuously evaluate and improve system reliability, observability, scalability, operational performance, and infrastructure efficiency through thoughtful engineering decisions.   ABOUT YOU You're a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and taking ownership of the solutions you build. You're comfortable working across both frontend and backend technologies and thrive in environments where you're trusted to make architectural decisions, balance technical tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality software with minimal direction. If you enjoy building scalable distributed systems, modern cloud-native applications, and high-impact products that improve healthcare, this role is for you REQUIREMENTS   - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable, production-grade applications. - Experience troubleshooting Kafka-based event-driven systems, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, replay strategies, and failure recovery. - Experience designing and developing APIs, distributed microservices, and event-driven systems using Kafka. - Experience in full-stack development using TypeScript and Node.js, with a track record of delivering customer-facing products end-to-end. - Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning for high-volume applications. - Experience building and operating cloud-native applications using Kubernetes, AWS, and modern CI/CD practices. - Experience implementing and optimizing search functionality using Elasticsearch. - Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization. - Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to independently own complex technical initiatives. STRONG PLUS : - Experience working with Python/PySpark or similar technologies to support data processing workflows is preferred - Experience working with Golang - Experience building AI-powered applications or integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), familiarity with RAG architectures, or modern AI frameworks such as LangChain or Vercel AI SDK is also preferred.   LOCATION & WORKING HOURS - This role is open to candidates located in India - Candidates must be willing to work hours that overlap with East Coast hours in the US and flex schedules as needed to support collaboration with clients and global teams. - This means availability to work until 10:30pm IST      Not meeting all the requirements but still feel like you’d be a great fit?
