Our team at City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health and the Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health is leading a groundbreaking research initiative, the "Social Contact-Based Brief Video Interventions To Reduce Stigma and Improve Engagement in HIV Prevention and Care and Mental Health Care for Youth Living with and Vulnerable to HIV (STRIVE)" project. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to fill the role of Project Director and Qualitative Research Scientist. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of intersectionally tailored brief videos to reduce public and internalized HIV stigma (BVHS) and increases HIV prevention, HIV care, and mental health treatment-seeking among young sexual minority men living with or vulnerable to HIV.

 

Project Overview:

The STRIVE project aims to evaluate brief, intersectionally tailored social-contact videos (BVHS) designed to reduce public and internalized HIV stigma and increase linkage to HIV prevention, care, and mental-health services for young men who have sex with men. Use youth co-development, randomized testing (crowdsourcing and social-media delivery), implementation science, and Instagram dissemination to measure efficacy and real-world engagement

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day study progress on ongoing studies; primarily for the launch and completion of the survey, including developing standard operating procedures and other study protocols
  • Work closely with the PI and collaborators to perform research and related support activities including (a) development, implementation, and management of research projects; and (b) preparation of drafts of regulatory protocols and progress reports, manuscripts, budgets, and grant applications
  • Responsible for data management and preliminary qualitative analysis
  • Collaborate and coordinate with STRIVE team colleagues at CUNY, Columbia University, NYU, and New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
  • Oversee and train data collectors who are conducting data collection in the field
  • Facilitate recurring conference calls with relevant stakeholders to discuss study progress and study activities
  • Coordinate administrative tasks for the investigator, including protocol amendment changes and preparation of IRB documents to send to the regulatory specialist.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • In progress or completed PhD or Master's in epidemiology, public health, psychology, or similar.
  • Proven experience in qualitative research methods, particularly in sensitive topics.
  • Strong project management skills, with a focus on ethical research practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Already authorized to work in the United States. H1B sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Preferred

  • Based in New York or the Northeast of the US
  • Expertise in aspects of HIV prevention and treatment research, mental health
  • Extensive knowledge of research design, data collection, quality control, and research compliance

Pay Range:

$32.96-$54.95 per hour commensurate with experience
