About this role

About Encircle

Encircle is building a world where LGBTQIA+ youth and their families thrive. Through our dual-service model, we provide life-affirming therapy services alongside community-based programming in environments that are welcoming, supportive, and rooted in our guiding principle: No Sides Only Love.

We specialize in affirming, evidence-based mental health care delivered within communities that may hold complex cultural and faith dynamics. Our clinicians are deeply committed to compassionate care, professional excellence, and collaborative teamwork.

Position Overview

Encircle is seeking an experienced, fully licensed clinician to join our clinical leadership team as a Supervising Therapist. In this dual-impact role, you will deliver affirming, evidence-based therapy to LGBTQ+ youth, adults, caregivers and families while providing direct clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional guidance to our pre-licensed associate clinicians.

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director, you will serve as a clinical standard-bearer, modeling documentation excellence, thoughtful boundary management, and high-acuity crisis care. You will embody our No Sides Only Love ethos, championing our mission both inside the clinic and throughout the broader community.

What You’ll Do

  • Clinical Workload: Maintain a target of 25 paid clinical units per week, consisting of a combination of direct client sessions and clinical supervision. Each supervisee is allocated approximately 2 hours of paid supervision/clinical support per week, reducing the supervisor’s direct client-session expectation accordingly. For example, a supervisor overseeing six clinicians would typically provide approximately 12 hours of supervision and maintain approximately 13 client sessions per week.
  • Mentor & Supervise Associates: Deliver regular individual and group clinical supervision to pre-licensed clinicians in full alignment with Utah DOPL regulations and best practice standards.
  • Cultivate Clinical Excellence: Conduct regular chart audits, clinical competency evaluations, and direct observations (live or recorded) to foster confident, ethical, and reflective practitioners.
  • Lead Crisis Consultation: Provide accessible triage, guidance, and debriefing for high-acuity client situations, mandatory reports, and safety protocols during operating hours.
  • Model Exemplary Documentation: Set the clinic benchmark for timely notes, dynamic treatment planning, and thorough diagnostic assessment.
  • Serve as an Organizational Ambassador: Champion Encircle’s mission and leadership vision, maintaining collaborative communication across clinical, operations, and community program teams.

Qualifications

  • Active Utah Licensure: Full, unrestricted licensure in Utah (LCSW, CMHC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist) held in good standing.
  • Supervisor Clearance on Day One: Must have completed DOPL-approved supervisory training and be actively eligible/cleared as a Division-Approved Clinical Supervisor under Utah law by start date.
  • Clinical Competence: Deep clinical grounding in LGBTQIA+ affirming care, WPATH SOC8 guidelines, crisis de-escalation, and diagnostic assessment within intersectional and conservative cultural dynamics.
  • Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to provide reflective, constructive, and evaluative feedback that builds clinician retention, competence, and resilience.
  • Values Alignment: Strong alignment with Encircle’s leadership and community philosophy (No Sides Only Love), paired with high digital responsiveness (Slack/EHR) and professional maturity.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You approach identity and faith intersections with empathy and nuance
  • You value collaboration and transparent communication
  • You are self-aware about burnout prevention and proactive in managing workload
  • You thrive in mission-driven, fast-paced environments
  • You are aligned with our philosophy: No Sides Only Love

Why Join Encircle?

  • Structured, Sustainable Workload: A transparent tiered caseload formula that protects time for supervision, observation, chart auditing, and self-care.
  • Mission-Driven Culture: A supportive, collaborative clinical and community ecosystem dedicated to creating safe, thriving spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families.
  • Leadership & Growth: The opportunity to directly shape the next generation of affirming mental health clinicians in Utah.
