Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc. (MRA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Department Manager to lead and grow our Towson, Maryland survey operations. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and oversee survey crews and office staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Manage multiple survey projects from proposal through completion, ensuring quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Perform contract administration, budget management, resource allocation, and project scheduling.
  • Prepare and review plats, legal descriptions, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, construction staking, and other survey deliverables.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable surveying standards, Maryland regulations, and ethical practices.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional judgment on complex land surveying assignments.
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for departmental growth.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality control, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • 3+ years of survey management experience (office and/or field leadership in land development)
  • Strong background in land surveying operations and project delivery
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required)
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines, budgets, and multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead with initiative, accountability, and technical confidence
