About this role

Why This Job Is Exciting

Innovatrics builds cutting-edge biometric identity solutions used by governments and enterprises across the globe. As a System Engineer on the ABIS team, you will sit at the intersection of infrastructure, software delivery, and customer success — deploying and maintaining our our cutting-edge software products in some of the world's most demanding environments. You won't be managing a static on-prem rack; you'll be flying to Indonesia, Kenya, Brazil, Thailand, and beyond, directly shaping how millions of people are identified.

Tech Stack

Core daily stack: RHEL / Rocky Linux, Ansible, AWS, GitLab, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, Bash, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, VMware / Proxmox, Keycloak, Redis / Ignite, Python / Java, MSSQL, Networking (CCNA level)

In your first month, you’ll

  • Learn the core architecture and the various integration methods used across our systems.
  • Shadow live deployments to observe how projects are executed in real client environments.
  • Perform internal deployments to build hands-on familiarity with the process.

As you settle into the role, you’ll

  • Lead your first client deployment from start to finish, taking ownership of the process.
  • Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance directly in production environments.
  • Adapt deployment tooling and approaches to fit the specific needs of each project.

Within your first year, you’ll

  • Master the full ABIS toolset well enough to work with it confidently and independently.
  • Contribute meaningfully to Factory Acceptance Tests as part of the project delivery cycle.
  • Identify and improve internal processes on your own initiative, without needing direction.
  • Manage multiple deployments in parallel, balancing priorities across several projects at once.
  • Become a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them beyond just technical implementation.
  • Channel customer feedback back into the product roadmap to help shape future development.

What You Will Do

  • Install, configure, and administer the Innovatrics ABIS product end-to-end for clients worldwide
  • Own client deployments from initial scoping through go-live, including on-site travel (up to 25% of your time)
  • Provide L2/L3 support to partners
  • Tune and troubleshoot system performance across the full stack (OS, Kubernetes, database, network, application)
  • Build and improve internal deployment tooling, monitoring pipelines, and automated playbooks
  • Collaborate with Consulting and Engineering colleagues on product improvement and technical documentation (e.g., Factory Acceptance Tests)
  • Train partner technical teams in ABIS administration and operations best practices
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule

Must Have

  • 1+ year Unix/Linux server admin experience (personal or professional)
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English and Malay
  • Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle)
  • Working knowledge of networking (routing, firewalls, DNS, TCP/IP)
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 25%)
  • Proactive, responsible, team-oriented attitude

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with any core stack technology (Ansible, AWS, RHEL, Grafana…)
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, K8s)
  • Knowledge of Spanish, French, or other languages
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python)
  • Virtualisation experience (VMware, Proxmox)
  • Background in or curiosity about biometric systems
  • Experience with observability tooling (ELK, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

What Makes a Strong Candidate Stand Out

  • You have deployed and administered Linux-based applications end-to-end, not just managed infrastructure
  • You can clearly explain a complex incident — root cause, impact, fix — to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • You are genuinely comfortable owning a project abroad, including travel on short notice
  • You bring a builder's mindset: if a process is inefficient, you improve it and document it
