Job Description

The Town of Stony Plain is currently recruiting a temporary part-time Recycling Centre Attendant. Reporting to the Utilities Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining the recycling depot and surrounding landscaping, welcoming and assisting residents, and providing education on proper recycling practices. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a physically active environment, and takes pride in providing excellent customer service to the community.

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Has knowledge of recycling systems and waste diversion practices.
  • Can lift and carry objects weighing more than 12 lbs.
  • Is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment.
  • Has excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a customer service orientated environment.
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.

This is a temporary position with an expected end date of December 31st, 2026. This position will work on an alternating bi-weekly schedule (56 hours every two weeks), including some weekends. In accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955 Collective Agreement, the hourly wage range is $21.97 per hour.

This competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is selected.
