Minimum Requirements:

Four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a certified Radiology Technician.

Position Description:

The University of Louisville School of Medicine, Department of Radiology, is seeking an Intermittent Temporary MRI Technician who will run the MRI scanners and related processes for research projects. This position will work on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Operating MRI scanners and collaborating with research teams to ensure the production of high-quality imaging.

  • Assessing and positioning patients for procedures while attending to their needs during imaging.

  • Optimize imaging protocols for advanced imaging applications.

  • Strong understanding of MRI safety standards and screening procedures.

  • Preparing and educating patients, reviewing medical histories, screening for pacemakers and metal objects, and ensuring the proper documentation of patient information related to the imaging procedure.

  • Ensuring that the MRI rooms are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.

  • Be able to work in the evenings and Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, MRI Technology, or related healthcare field.

  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and/or MRI (MR) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

  • KY State licensure.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of MRI physics, pulse sequences, and imaging parameters. Experience in performing brain, spine, cardiac, and musculoskeletal MRI exams and advanced MRI techniques (e.g., functional MRI, diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, or 4D flow)

  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical MRI experience

  • Experience in running a Siemens 3T MRI scanner (Skyra).

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
