About this role

Position Summary:

The Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our expanding Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Department. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care. 

The Trauma service admits over 3,400 traumas per year with 20% penetrating trauma.  Our team also handles all Emergency General Surgery and exclusively runs our Surgical ICU.  We have cutting edge Surgical Critical Care and AAST approved Acute Care Surgery fellowships with a current group of 17 Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons.  The clinical schedule provides flexibility and ensures time for academic pursuits.  The Division provides a robust research infrastructure that supports clinical faculty.

Division Highlights:

The Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin leads the Trauma Program, Surgical Critical Care Service, Acute Care Surgery, and Community General Surgery at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, and Froedtert West Bend Hospital. We provide comprehensive, around-the-clock surgical care – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – serving both patients and professional colleagues.

Our team specializes in the management of injuries, complex wounds, surgical infections, and critical illness, while also maintaining an active general surgery practice with expertise in laparoscopy, endoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery, and emergency surgical care.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.

  • Board certification in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care

  • State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.

  • Candidates must have experience in academic medicine.
