Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under indirect supervision the incumbent monitors the process and outcome of Trauma patient care through performance improvement activities centered on evaluation of all aspects of Trauma patient care. Goals are to ensure the quality and timely provision of excellent Trauma care, to improve the knowledge and skills of trauma care providers, and to provide the institutional structure and organization to promote quality improvement. Incumbent facilitates the establishment of policies, procedures, and protocols for the care of the injured, oversees systematic surveillance of this care and modifies the process, and where necessary, to attain and sustain appropriate standards. Critical to these efforts, the incumbent possesses a detailed understanding of the causes, treatment and outcomes of injury and appropriate care of the injury as established by the American College of Surgeons. The position reports to the Manager Nursing.

Job Requirements

Required

Experience in Trauma Nursing, Trauma Registry database and trauma systems.

Recent experience in a designated trauma center.

American College of Surgeons and Joint Commission background and knowledge, state and federal regulations affecting and involving quality assessment/improvement as they relate to trauma programs CQI principles and tools Implementation of office systems and computerized information and database management. Data management and analysis, research methodology and statistical process control

Registered Nurse: CA 

Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
