About this role

About Velocity Restorations

Velocity Restorations is a high-growth manufacturer of premium classic vehicles, producing approximately 150 complete vehicles annually. Our supply organization manages approximately $25 million in annual material spend, $8 million in inventory, roughly 8,000 active SKUs, and approximately 250 suppliers.

Velocity is transitioning from a traditional restoration environment into a disciplined manufacturing operation. We are looking for leaders who have built scalable systems - not simply operated inside systems someone else created.

Position Summary

The Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager will own the complete physical flow of material from the moment it arrives at Velocity until it reaches the technician who needs it. This leader will have full authority to redesign warehouse processes, responsibilities, layouts, controls, KPIs and employee expectations.

We are not looking for someone who has simply managed an established warehouse. We need someone who has previously walked into an operation with weak processes, identified root causes, built new systems and created sustainable operating discipline. The manager will directly address receiving performance, dock-to-stock time, picking accuracy, inventory accuracy, material staging, point-of-use replenishment and transaction discipline.

Dock-to-Stock

  • Own the complete receiving-to-inventory process.
  • Establish measurable dock-to-stock standards.
  • Eliminate unprocessed material and receiving backlogs.
  • Ensure incoming material is correctly received, inspected, labeled, located and transacted in the ERP.

Warehouse Operations

  • Lead receiving, picking, material staging, counter operations and inventory-control personnel.
  • Establish standard work for every warehouse function.
  • Improve warehouse layout, slotting and material location strategy.
  • Create visual management and daily accountability.
  • Establish staffing and workload standards.

Picking & Production Support

  • Dramatically improve picking accuracy.
  • Implement verification processes for critical material.
  • Establish root-cause corrective action for mis-picks.
  • Ensure kits and production material are available before technicians require them.
  • Improve point-of-use and shop-floor material replenishment.

Inventory Control

  • Own physical inventory accuracy.
  • Build a disciplined cycle-counting program.
  • Establish ABC inventory methodology and count frequency.
  • Investigate variances and eliminate recurring root causes.
  • Control material adjustments, transfers, returns and scrap.
  • Ensure ERP transactions accurately represent physical inventory.

Audit & Process Compliance

  • Create warehouse and production-station audit systems.
  • Ensure every audit discrepancy has an owner and due date.
  • Drive corrective actions to closure rather than simply recording findings.
  • Build clear accountability around recurring process violations.

People Development

  • Develop leads and future supervisors within the warehouse.
  • Train employees on standard work and ERP discipline.
  • Set measurable individual and team expectations.
  • Hold the organization accountable while creating a high-performing team culture.

First-Year Expectations

  • Establish reliable dock-to-stock performance.
  • Achieve and sustain 98%+ inventory accuracy.
  • Dramatically reduce mis-picks.
  • Implement formal daily warehouse KPIs.
  • Establish a functioning cycle-count program.
  • Close all warehouse and station audit corrective actions.
  • Establish standard work for receiving, put-away, picking, counter and material staging.
  • Improve warehouse organization and location accuracy.
  • Build a leadership structure that does not depend on the manager personally solving every problem.

Candidate Profile

We are specifically looking for a leader with demonstrated transformation experience in a manufacturing warehouse or materials operation.

  • 8-10+ years of manufacturing warehouse/materials experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership responsibility.
  • Experience rebuilding or materially improving a warehouse operation.
  • Strong inventory-control background.
  • Experience establishing cycle-count and location-control systems.
  • ERP/MRP expertise.
  • Lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work and continuous-improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting assembly-line or high-mix manufacturing.
  • Strong KPI and root-cause-analysis capability.

The key requirement is demonstrated transformation experience. Candidates should be able to show what the operation looked like when they arrived, what they personally changed, and the measurable results after implementation.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Inventory accuracy
  • Dock-to-stock time
  • Receiving backlog
  • Pick accuracy
  • Material shortages caused by warehouse error
  • Cycle-count completion
  • Inventory adjustments
  • Audit corrective-action closure
  • Kit/material readiness
  • Warehouse productivity
