Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School U.S. History Teacher to inspire students through engaging instruction, critical thinking, and meaningful exploration of American history. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, implement standards-based instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and foster academic growth for all learners.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for American History.
- Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and civic engagement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Establish a positive classroom culture that promotes student achievement, respect, and responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field.
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Social Studies (Grades 9โ12) or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Knowledge of North Carolina curriculum standards and best instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience teaching high school social studies.
- Experience integrating technology into instruction.

- Ability to develop engaging, student-centered lessons.
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
