SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Career Services supports the career development and professional advancement of adult learners, graduate and undergraduate students, and alumni through individualized coaching, career education, and alumni engagement. This role designs and delivers career programming tailored to professionals at different stages of their careers, including career changers, working adults, graduate students, and individuals pursuing career advancement or encore careers.
The Assistant Director serves as a strategic partner to academic programs across the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, MBA and graduate business programs, Athletics and other adult-focused initiatives. Through career advising, employer and alumni outreach, and collaborative campus partnerships, this position helps students and alumni translate their academic experiences into meaningful professional opportunities.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Minimal to no physical demands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills & Ability:
Knowledge of career development and student development theories, research and practices, and recruiting trends. Prefer knowledge of relationship building with a variety of constituents, including but not limited to employer recruiters, alumni development prospects, parents, faculty & staff. Other skills and abilities that are integral to this position are as follows:
- Ability to advise students, alumni and organizations
- Extensive career management experience, including working with adult learners and those in career transition
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Extensive ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide range of constituents
- Supervision and leadership skills
- Outcomes assessment, learning outcomes and evaluation strategies
- Outstanding teamwork abilities
- Innovation and creativity in program development, processes, relationship development and other functions of the position
- Development of metrics and methods for continuous improvement of processes, goals, and strategies
- Proven presentation, group facilitation, and teaching skills
- MBTI certification preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, business, higher education administration, human resources, or related field.
- At least two years of professional experience in career development, graduate school advising, workforce development, human resources, or the equivalent. Skilled presenter with excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated strength in fostering inclusion and belonging. Must combine rich understanding of liberal arts with special appreciation for experienced professionals, adult learners, and graduate students
WORK HOURS:
Full Time, Exempt
7.75 hours/daily, 38.75 hours/weekly
SALARY:
Pay Grade 6 - Exempt ($50,461.00 - $70,000.00)
