About this role
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor vessel requisitions and purchasing/inventory systems (NS)
- Issue RFQs to approved suppliers and analyse quotations for cost, quality and availability
- Raise Purchase Orders upon Superintendent approval
- Track POs through suppliers, warehouses and freight forwarders until onboard delivery
- Arrange freight shipments and negotiate pricing with forwarders
- Coordinate lube oil purchases and emergency repair deliveries
- Monitor and manage supplier performance and improvement initiatives
- Ensure fair competition and apply efficient procurement strategies
- Assist Accounting with disputed invoices
- Cooperate with Buyers, support training and manage assigned projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Shipping, Purchasing or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar purchasing role within a shipping company
- Very good organisational and communication skills
- Adequate English language skills
- IT literate with knowledge of NS
- High ethical standards and professionalism
