About this role

Mission
To advance the adoption of the Walrus Protocol – a Verifiable Data Platform for AI Builders

Vision
To create a foundation for AI builders to store and manage their data, making that data persistent, portable, and under their control across apps, providers, and agents.

We are in search of an outbound, relationship-driven Community Growth Coordinator to build Walrus's presence in AI and non-web3 communities, and to support the execution of community programs and events designed and led by the Community function. This role is defined first by the ability to build real presence in communities Walrus doesn't yet have — every other responsibility supports that goal.

This is a 6 month contract

Responsibilities

Community Growth (Outside Web3):

  • Find new communities and opportunities, with a focus on AI-native and non-web3 spaces — scouting, identifying fit, and prioritizing where to invest time.

  • Build and maintain genuine relationships with those communities, not just initial contact.

  • Drive engagement and support the activation motion once a relationship is established.

  • Engage directly in community discussions across target communities; track recurring themes, questions, and pain points, and surface what's emerging as input for future community programs.

  • Bring community observations into regular syncs so they inform ongoing planning, not just sit with one person.

  • Contribute to Reddit strategy, moderation, and content sourcing, working alongside the moderator team.

Program & Community Support:

  • First-pass review of applications for community programs.

  • Judging and evaluation of program participants/winners, alongside the program lead.

  • Support the setup of new programs — website, documentation, and logistics.

  • Day-to-day coordination and management of moderators, in partnership with the Discord lead moderator.

Events (IRL & Online):

  • Maintain visibility across all events — tracking status and next steps.

  • Support logistics for in-person events.

  • Support preparation of X Spaces, AMA's.

  • Build and maintain a simple system for tracking event status and feedback, ensuring outcomes are captured consistently across all events.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Demonstrated, active presence within AI-focused, builder, or other non-web3 online communities — not just familiarity, but real standing, relationships, or a track record of participation and reputation within them.

  • Experience initiating and growing relationships with new communities, not just managing existing ones.

Strong plus:

  • Comfortable at adapting and localizing existing programs for new audiences, working closely with program leads on execution.

  • Strong organizational skills and process discipline — able to independently manage applications, evaluations, and payment workflows without things falling through the cracks.

  • Experience coordinating or supporting events.

  • Familiarity with Discord, Reddit, X and/or other channels as community and engagement platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or product concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, often unscripted environment.
