Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Community Support Workers to join our team at The Grove Older Adults Shelter.

As a Community Support Worker, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and hope-filled environment for older adults experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll build meaningful relationships, respond to participant needs, support day-to-day shelter operations, and help connect individuals with appropriate community resources.

What You'll Do

• Build positive, respectful relationships with participants through trauma-informed engagement
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming shelter environment
• Monitor participant wellbeing and respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies
• De-escalate conflict while maintaining professional boundaries
• Complete incident reports and communicate effectively with team members
• Administer First Aid and contact emergency services when required
• Perform regular cleaning and sanitation throughout the shelter
• Support participants by providing encouragement, information, and referrals to community services

What You'll Bring

• Certificate or diploma in a social services field or equivalent related experience
• Understanding of homelessness, addiction, mental health, and trauma-informed care
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in crisis situations
• First Aid, Food Safe, Naloxone, and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• A compassionate, respectful, and hopeful approach to supporting others

Compensation & Benefits
