About this role

Overview

Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker I will be responsible for performing architectural renovations, modifications, repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. ย

Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems. This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Individual must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Work hours and schedule 10:30pm-7:00am. Work Schedule Wednesday through Monday, off Tuesday and Wednesday.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas.ย  Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 80 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation and perform desk-based computer tasks.ย  Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator.ย  Will work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.The above is intended to describe the general requirements for the position and should not be interpreted as an exhaustive statement of physical requirements.ย  The Institute will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires an accommodation to perform the essential functions of the position.
