Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Master Teacher, you will provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate early childhood education environment that supports the cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development of infant, toddler, and preschool children. This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood educator who is passionate about fostering child development, school readiness, and lifelong learning.
Every day, you will develop and implement engaging early learning curriculum and daily lesson plans tailored to the needs of young learners in a high-quality child care and preschool setting. You will build strong partnerships with parents and families, support child assessments and developmental milestones, and maintain accurate documentation for the evaluation and management of early care and education programs.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate expertise in child development, curriculum planning, classroom management, family engagement, and developmentally appropriate practices. You will have a proven ability to create engaging learning environments that support the success of children, families, and fellow educators.
The California Hospital Medical Center Early Care and Education Program provides year-round child care, infant care, toddler care, and preschool education services. Our center-based early learning programs serve children Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Key Master Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and implement daily classroom activities and lesson plans.
- Provide direct instructional services that support early childhood learning and development.
- Maintain safe, engaging, and high-quality classroom environments.
- Foster positive social-emotional growth and age-appropriate skill development.
- Complete daily recordkeeping, child assessments, and required program documentation.
Job Requirements
Required
- 2 years of experience working with children birth to five years
- BA in Child Development or a minimum of 24 Child Development units
- Current CPR and First Aid training
Preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills
- California Department of Education Teacher Permit
