Job Title: Mobile Charging Unit (MCU) MCU Charging Assistant - Underground Mining Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Charging Unit (MCU) Charging Assistant to join our underground mining operations team. The successful candidate will assist the MCU Controller in controlling and monitoring the operation of MCUs, ensuring safe and efficient charging of batteries and powering of equipment in underground mining environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist the MCU Controller in controlling and monitoring the operation of MCUs, ensuring efficient charging of batteries and powering of equipment while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
2. Monitor battery charging, hose reels and pusher and equipment performance, identifying and reporting any issues or anomalies to the MCU Controller.
3. To assist in making sure the charging face is scaled and made free from falling rocks, while ensuring that the lifters are rodded, cleanse from water, mud, and other debris for optimum performance.
4. To have knowledge of the number of blast holes to charge and record same on the plod while ensuring that the blast holes are inspected and blown to eliminate all debris from the holes to achieve quality assurance.
5. To assist in making sure that explosives are obtained at the underground magazines to the face; blast holes are primed and charged to the required standard and specification while ensuring to mount mandatory signages at the required firing points in accordance with safety protocols and achieve operational excellence.
6. To ensure the MCU is thoroughly washed in detail at the end of each shift to eliminate accumulated spots of products while ensuring that maintenance schedules are complied with as planned to extend the lifespan of the Unit.

1. Assist the MCU Controller in troubleshooting and repairing minor MCU issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
2. Assist the MCU Controller in maintaining accurate records and reports on MCU operation, maintenance, and repairs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Collaborate with underground mining operations team members to ensure efficient and safe operation of MCUs.
4. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, adhering to company policies and procedures, and ensuring a safe working environment.
5. Ensure the quality of gassing solution preparation done to specifications while providing support and assistance to the MCU Controller for seamless operation of MCUs.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of WASSCE,NVTI, A ‘Level or equivalent certificate
2. Minimum of
   1-2 years of experience in an underground mining environment or other similar industries (e.g. explosives, oil and gas, etc.).
3. Must have Underground Blasting Operation Certificate of Competency from MinCom.
4. Must have First Aid and basic Industrial Fire Safety
5. Experience with MCU Charging systems.
6. Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic electrical knowledge and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic underground mining environment.

Working Conditions:

1. Shift Work: Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
2. Outdoor Work: Will work underground in various weather conditions, with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, and mechanical systems.
