Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Charging Unit (MCU) Controller to join our underground mining operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the operation of MCUs, ensuring safe and efficient charging of batteries and powering of equipment in underground mining environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Control and monitor the operation of MCUs by ensuring safe and efficient charging of batteries and powering of equipment in underground mining environment.
  2. Monitor battery charging and equipment performance by identifying and addressing any issues or anomalies in real-time.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on MCUs, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet operational requirements.
  4. Troubleshoot and repair minor MCU issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance in underground mining environments.
  5. Maintain accurate records and reports on MCU operation, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  6. Collaborate with underground mining operations team members to ensure efficient and safe operation of MCUs.
  7. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, adhering to company policies and procedures, and ensuring a safe working environment.
  8. Maintain effective communication with MCU personnel, operations team, and other stakeholders, ensuring seamless coordination and collaboration.
  9. Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, equipment maintenance records, and operational logs.
  10. Provide training and guidance to Charging Assistants on MCU operation and maintenance in underground mining environments.
  11. Participate in training and development programmes to enhance skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.

 

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of WASSCE,NVTI or Diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, logistics, operations management) preferred.
  2. Must posses a valid Ghanaian driving license class “EF”
  3. Must have Underground Blasting Operation Certificate of Competency & Equipment Operator’s Certificate of Competency from MinCom
  4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an underground mining environment or other similar industries (e.g quarry, oil and gas, transportation etc.)
  5. Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems will be an advantage.
  6. Must have knowledge in First Aid and basic Industrial Fire Safety
  7. Experience with MCU control systems and software: Preferred.
  8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills*: Required.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills*: Required.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic underground mining environment*: Required.
  11. Certification in underground mining operations and safety protocols*: Preferred.

 

Working Conditions:

  1. Shift Work: Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  2. Outdoor Work: Will work underground in various weather conditions, with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, and mechanical systems.
