The Parent Liaison is a ten (10) month contractual employee paid in twenty-six (26) equal biweekly installments. This role requires annual ratification by Chief and Band Council and operates under the direction of School Administration.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Parent Liaison Worker supports positive relationships between the school, families, and the community by providing information, facilitating communication, and assisting parents in accessing school and community services.
The Parent Liaison shall:
Parent & Family Support
Provide parents/guardians with information regarding school procedures, policies, and programs
Explain the roles of administrators and school staff to families
Assist parents in understanding school expectations and supports available
Communication & Outreach
Serve as a primary contact person for parents with questions regarding school services, activities, and events
Contact parents as required to support student success and engagement
Facilitate clear, respectful, and timely communication between school and home
Plan parent engagement activities
Community Connections & Resource Support
Provide information to families about community resources and supports available in Prince Albert and surrounding areas
Assist parents in accessing school, community, and external services
Home & Community Engagement
Conduct home visits, as appropriate and directed, to support student attendance, engagement, and well-being
Build trusting relationships with families to encourage participation in school activities
Transportation & Access Support
Coordinate transportation arrangements for parents/guardians when required to support attendance at school meetings or events
School & Extracurricular Involvement
Plan and support/participate in school events and extracurricular activities
Assist in promoting parent engagement opportunities within the school
Qualifications:
Experience working with families, youth, or community programs
Knowledge of local community services and supports (asset)
Experience working in a school or education setting (asset)
Strong communication skills and ability to engage families
Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
First Aid/CPR certification (asset)
Clean driver’s license/abstract (asset)
