The Source is seeking a Patient Advocate to provide daily crisis intervention support for clients of The Source.

The Patient Advocate has responsibility for daily crisis intervention support for clients of The Source. They will conduct initial intake appointments, discuss pregnancy options, and provide referral resources and follow up support.


What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate ongoing compliance with all Thriving Texas Families (TTF) requirements, including participation in required trainings, adherence to program protocols, compliance standards, documentation requirements, and applicable state and organizational policies.
  • Provide crisis intervention support for each patient in an atmosphere of warmth and compassion through listening and helping skills.
  • Assess client needs and connect client to program resources and community referrals.
  • Provide accurate information about abortion, parenting, adoption, and foster care.
  • Offer support, material, and referrals appropriate to patient's situation.
  • Coordinate appropriate follow up with patients according to the policies and guidelines of The Source.
  • Keep current on information in The Source's referral system.
  • Maintain and update all patient records as indicated in clinic policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure that patient follow up occurs in a timely manner.
  • Complete required training for TTF.
  • Work with and help train volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client's personal and financial information.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and make appointment reminder calls.
  • Assist with client intake process.
  • Assist with making client folders/bags, when needed.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist in special events, Source 101's and church presentations as needed.
  • Expected to attend and volunteer at The Source's local major fund-raising event every year. Strongly preferred to attend and volunteer at The Source's second major fund-raising event as well.
  • Establish positive working relationships with staff members and volunteers.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

We're looking for someone who meets the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a helping field; social work, counseling, psychology, or sociology, preferred.
  • Experience working in a social services setting, preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred or may be required.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Be self-motivated, dependable, and responsible.
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate compassion, cheerfulness and professionalism.
