Job Description:


 

Increased cash flow and a healthier bottom line  Rehmann’s state and local tax (SALT) team helps  clients achieve both, while effectively managing and reducing risk.

 

We impact our clients through:

  • Review of current operations and exemptions
  • Review of current sales tax collection/exemption certificate collection
  • Negotiation with state tax authorities to limit assessments
  • Penalty waiver applications
  • Acquisition target vetting
  • Monitoring and navigating legislative changes

 

Our broad list of specialties, from state and local audit defense to due diligence reviews and transaction planning, provides clients with solutions that help them get through the changes and identify beneficial opportunities.

How You'll Make an Impact:

 

  • Building relationships internally to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration
  • Providing a “wow” experience to every client
  • Contributing to the success of our clients’ organizations
  • Managing the preparation of a broad range of individual, corporate and other entity tax returns
  • Conducting tax research to develop solutions for our clients’ complex and/or unique situations
  • Providing direction and new challenges to associates
  • Teaching and developing associates allowing them to reach their goals
  • Mentoring associates as they navigate their career paths
  • Participating in activities to grow the firm and generate business with new clients
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce other Rehmann specialists to existing clients
  • Making a difference in the communities where you live and work


Your Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
  • CPA license required; MST a plus
  • Expert knowledge individual, partnership and corporate state and local income tax laws and principles
  • Working knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and principles
  • Outstanding  communication skills
  • Desire to develop unique business solutions in a team-based environment
  • Prior experience coaching and training entry level accounting professionals
  • Passion for coaching others to higher levels of performance
  • Enthusiasm for recognizing and rewarding great work by those around you
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Out-of-the box thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • A new perspective and new ideas allowing us to continuously improve
